Analysis Highlight and Recent Prices by Size and Resolution for Mobile Phone Panel Prices
Mobile phone display panel prices are generally flat this month. Brands will launch many new smart phones in 1H’12, but those panels are stocked, so panel makers are not cutting panel prices. Some China and Taiwan panel makers keep on manufacturing a-Si mobile phone display panels in Gen 5, so they quote low prices to gain market share, pushing the price of a-Si 3.0"+ mobile panels down. Supply of LTPS mobile panels is still tight, because tier-one mobile brands will launch new high-end models in 1H’12; they have already secured LTPS capacity.
