Based in Japan, Charles Annis serves as the Vice President of Manufacturing Research at DisplaySearch. As one of the leading experts in the FPD industry, he analyzes emerging technologies, tracks and forecasts FPD investments, and researches equipment, materials, and process trends. He contributes his findings in multiple reports, including the Quarterly FPD Technology Development Report, Quarterly FPD Supply/Demand and Capital Spending Report, and LTPS Report.

Annis also serves in a dual role as Vice President at Solarbuzz, a sister company of DisplaySearch. He assisted in launching the solar research business for The NPD Group and developed the Solarbuzz proprietary polysilicon, wafer, and cell manufacturing databases. Annis conducts in depth research of polysilicon and wafer supply/demand for the Solarbuzz Polysilicon and Wafer Supply Chain Quarterly.

Before joining DisplaySearch, Annis spent six years at leading AMLCD yield management provider, Photon Dynamics (now Orbotech). There, he performed strategic planning and business development in addition to market research and product marketing for automated cell/module inspection tools. Prior to that, he served as the international business manager at SAMCO International, a semiconductor equipment manufacturer in Kyoto, Japan.

Education: Charles has a master's degree in business law from Ryukoku University in Kyoto and a bachelor's degree from Pomona College in Claremont, California.
